Internal Medicine / Family Medicine Physician Mississippi State Hospital – Jackson, Mississippi Area
Mississippi State Hospital (MSH), a state-operated teaching hospital in the Jackson, Mississippi metropolitan area, is seeking a Board Eligible/Board Certified Internal Medicine or Family Medicine physician to join our medical staff.
This position offers a 40-hour weekday schedule (Monday–Friday) with no after-hours or weekend call, providing an exceptional opportunity for work-life balance.
MSH is home to an established psychiatry residency program offering a collaborative academic environment with opportunities for teaching and professional engagement.

Clinical Responsibilities:
Serve as attending physician for:
On-campus nursing home residents
Psychiatric inpatients requiring primary medical care
Provide care for short-stay, low-acuity medical admissions in the on-campus medical-surgical hospital
Participate in rotating clinic coverage for patients requiring a higher level of medical evaluation or urgent care
Evaluate and stabilize urgent and emergent medical conditions, with transfer to outside facilities as appropriate
Collaborate closely with family nurse practitioners and interdisciplinary teams
Participate in psychiatry residency program as a faculty member through teaching, supervision, and didactic instruction of residents

Mississippi State Hospital is a publicly funded behavioral health program of the Mississippi Department of Mental Health. The hospital is located on a 350-acre campus in Whitfield, MS, 15 miles southeast of Jackson, the state capital. Mississippi State Hospital operates 246 hospital beds and is accredited by the Joint Commission. The hospital beds include Adult Acute and Continued Treatment Psychiatric, Forensic, Adolescent Psychiatric and Substance Use treatment services, and Adult Substance Use treatment services for women. The program also includes a 198 bed nursing home.
