Treatment of inpatients and outpatients with sleep disorders with medications and other modalities such as CPAP, BiPAP, oral appliances, position education, referral for maxillofacial and upper airway surgery, etc. Recognition of medical, neurologic, and psychiatric disorders displaying symptoms likely to be related to sleep disorders. Ability to function within the parameters set by VA with regards to consult management, utilizing order sets in CPRS, documentation in CPRS, and other requirements of the VA's electronic medical record system. Ability to function within a large complex organization that requires cooperation with multiple services, including community care, prosthetics service, medical administration, medical records, group medical practice, etc. Supervision of medical instrument technicians. Provide teaching for internal medicine residents, medical students, etc. as assigned. Act as a liaison to other services within the hospital to ensure the smooth operation of the service. Participate in hospital and service level committees. Participate in process improvement activities, LEAN activities, EPRP, ORYX, and SAIL measures. Track administrative and quality improvement data. Participate in clinical research and academic activities as assigned, both with VA and our affiliated academic institutions.
