Duties include but are not limited to the following: Provide direct patient care in outpatient clinic settings, inpatient units, and operative care. Maintain professional competency, courtesy and flexibility and provide the necessary services of this specialty. Perform all aspects of General Surgery within approved credentials and privileges. Participate in program planning, objectives, policies and standards essential to delivery of quality care. Participate in all aspects of the General Surgery Section. Manage patient workload within available staffing, which may include support of mid-levels, student, and resident education. Document all clinical encounter consistent within established guidelines. The incumbent has excellent organizational skills and strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for delivering General Surgery services to a diverse population of Veterans. He/she will work closely and collaboratively with the medicine, primary care, specialty care and other disciplines. The incumbent may also participate in program development, quality improvement, and evaluation processes.
