The Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon is responsible for the medical and surgical needs of inpatient and outpatient veterans of the Orthopedic Surgery Section of Surgery Service. Provide routine, non-routine and emergency inpatient and outpatient care. Provide examination, diagnosis, and treatment by surgical and conservative means for diseases and injuries. Responsible for the evaluation, work-up and preparation of Veteran patients. The incumbent will follow established guidelines, ethics, and policies and protocols of the Department of Veterans Affairs. He/She functions as a cooperative and collegial team member with the entire staff. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Maintaining hand surgery privileges Admitting, evaluating, diagnosing, consulting and providing non-operative and pre-, intra, and post-operative care to patients with medical/surgical injuries or disorders Evaluating, diagnosing and providing consultation to patients with congenital and/or acquired defects of the body's musculoskeletal system, craniomaxillofacial, hand, extremities, breast and truck and external genitalia and soft tissue including the aesthetic management. Procedures involving injuries and disorders of all structures of upper extremity directly affectioning the form and function of the hand and wrist by medical, surgical and rehabilitative means Conducting a variety of plastic and reconstructive surgery (such as cosmetic, hand surgery, etc.) Hand surgery procedures including, but not limited to, amputations, biopsies, bone grafts, joint replacement, fractures and dislocations, peripheral nerve repair, tenomyotomy, etc. Perform fluoroscopy procedures related to plastic/hand surgery Delivering the best possible care to our Veteran patients. Maintaining good diagnostic, judgmental, and therapeutic acumen. Timely documentation (notes and encounter forms) in accordance with facility policy. Serving as leader and/or active member on Medical Center committees as requested. Teaching colleagues, residents, medical and nursing students, other ancillary staff. Participating in a shared rotation of night and weekend on-call coverage, as required. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7 am to 3:30 pm Compressed/Flexible Schedule: Not Authorized.
