The Sioux Falls VA Health Care System is recruiting for a Part-Time, Permanent, Physician-Infectious Disease. This position is located in the Medical Subspecialty Care Service Line. Conducts physical examinations and treatment, coordination of medical care with primary care providers, other subspecialists, social workers, pharmacists, dietitians, nursing, and other personnel. Utilize telemedicine to provide care. Ensures that high quality patient care is delivered in a resourceful and efficient manner. Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with chronic infectious diseases to include HIV/Hep C and treats patients that have been referred by their primary care provider to manage their care throughout the course of treatment for an infection disease and perform procedures within their privileges. Provide patient care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective for the promotion of health, prevention of illness, and treatment of disease. Demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills that enable them to establish and maintain professional relationships with patients, families, and other members of the health care team. Provide resident and/or trainee supervision, as necessary and/or appropriate. Work collaboratively with other specialists and Primary Care (PACT) teams to ensure patients receive continuous quality care. Will be required to attend staff meetings, serves on committees, teams, workgroups, and peer reviews as requested. Completes CME, VA Training, HIPAA, Security training, and other training mandatory trainings. Physicians may be assigned duty as a supervising or collaborating physician for a mid-level provider. Physicians are expected to provide clinical oversight and review. Supervising or collaborating responsibilities and performance will be noted in the physician's performance evaluation. Most providers will need to act as surrogates for the patients of their colleagues, when one or more of their colleagues are on leave. A progress note must be entered on all inpatients as they are seen. Timely documentation is necessary in all areas in accordance with departmental policy. All administrative work should be completed in a timely fashion. The discharge summary may be dictated, all other inpatient documentation should be entered by the physician into the medical record directly. Prohibited abbreviations should not to be used. Quality of care should always be able to meet professional standards. Work Schedule: The tour of duty for this position is typically administrative hours. Additional information regarding the work schedule of this position will be discussed during the interview.
