The Overton Brooks VA Medical Center is seeking a Physician (Dermatologist). We will accept application packets on an on-going basis; however, qualified applicants will be referred to the selecting official at two-week intervals. The first referral will be two weeks from the opening date of the announcement. If the vacancy is filled prior to the current closing date, the announcement will be closed. Major Duties/Responsibilities: The Dermatology Physician (MD/DO) is administratively responsible to the Chief of Medicine. Clinical oversight is provided by the collaborating physician, Section Chief, Dermatology. The physician, as a member of the department, communicates with other healthcare providers to manage consults and additional services as required. On call coverage will also be required. The physician will work in a team setting with other physicians, nurse practitioners, clinical pharmacists, registered nurses, and support staff assigned to perform duties to accomplish the treatment of our patients. General duties include, but are not limited to: Clinical practice, supervising and teaching fellows, residents and medical students in the specialty of Dermatology. Providing consultation to non-dermatology services for hospitalized patients with dermatology concerns. Providing outpatient dermatology consultations and clinic appointments for Veterans with a variety of dermatology concerns. Performing standard dermatology procedures. Ensuring that treatment is safe, timely, efficient, efficacious, evidence-based, and patient-centered. Ensuring that patients receive appropriate follow-up for patients with dermatology concerns. And any other duties as assigned by Chief of Staff. Must qualify for an academic appointment at LSU School of Medicine. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00AM to 4:30PM Financial Disclosure Report: Not required Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP): Authorized This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan reimbursement program. To participate in the program, you must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy 1021 and submit your application within four months of appointment. The final award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services office.
