The Mental Health Service at the Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks (VHSO) seeks an energetic and skilled Psychiatrist to provide Mental Health Services located at Fayetteville, Arkansas. Highly qualified candidates may be eligible for a recruitment/relocation incentive. Performs psychiatric evaluations for a diverse population, including geriatric and post deployment combat Veterans, who are mentally ill and have psychosocial issues such as homelessness, unemployment, and poor family support network. Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions including diagnostic assessment, medication evaluation and management, suicide risk assessments, crisis intervention, psychotherapy, and overall care of patients with psychiatric disorders. Modalities for patient care include face-to-face, tele-video, and phone calls as clinically appropriate. Provider must be able to incorporate alternative encounter modalities into clinic. Ensures practice of psychiatric medicine is consistent with TJC, CARF, HIPPA, VA policies and procedures, clinical practice guidelines, national statutes and regulations, medical record documentation, and mandatory continuing education. Maintains appropriate licensing and board certifications as applicable. Participates effectively in team meetings and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to enhance coordination of comprehensive patient care. Functioning as part of a psychiatric care team working with other physicians, PA's, APN's, nurses and/or other support staff. Works as collaborating physician with PA's and APN's as necessary. Orders diagnostic tests and consultations. Discriminates between normal and abnormal findings and makes appropriate treatment decisions. May participate in supervision and teaching in support of medical students and residents in training. May be asked to perform on call duties depending on practice location, and other duties as assigned. Primary responsibilities in outpatient Psychiatric Services. 1 hour provided for new patients, 30 minutes for follow ups. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Call Schedule: Depending on location, may be required to take call every 6-8 weeks, as required by service. 1:1 post call days provided for any weekends/holidays. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required. Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP): This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan reimbursement program within VHA. If selected for this position you must meet specific individual eligibility criteria in accordance with VHA policy 1021 and apply for EDRP within four (4) months of appointment. Final award amount and program start date is determined after review of a complete EDRP application and supporting documentation by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services office.
