Intensivists are trained to provide time-restrained emergency medical care, life support and organ support, while also interacting with patients' families during emotionally challenging times. Intensivists will provide care from the point of first contact, working swiftly to stabilize and diagnose the patient, and perform any life-saving procedures. This announcement reflects a closing date of September 30, 2021. We will accept application packets on an on-going basis; however, qualified applicants will be referred to the selecting official at two-week intervals. The first referral will be two weeks from the opening date of the announcement. If the vacancy is filled prior to the current closing date, the announcement will be closed. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases. Recruitment/Relocation Incentive: A recruitment/relocation incentive may be eligible for highly skilled candidates Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP): This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more Paid Time Off: Annual leave at the rate of eight (8) hours per biweekly pay period; Sick leave at the rate of four (4) hours per biweekly pay period; 10 paid Federal holidays per year. Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years' vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA. Major Duties and Responsibilities ~ Admit, examine, treat, transfer, and discharged assigned patients. ~ Provide coverage for critical care/pulmonary consultations. ~ Provide cross coverage for inpatient and emergency needs, including outpatient services, as required. ~ Gather history information and perform physical examinations on patients admitted to Intensive Care Unit and Acute Care, as needed. ~ Provide Hospitalist coverage, as needed. ~ Perform rounds on assigned patients; enter progress notes. ~ Evaluate patients, as appropriate, for change in status. ~ Perform inpatient procedures of internal medicine, as required. ~ Train medical students/residents/fellows. ~ Other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday -Friday, 8 AM- 4:30 PM; limited on-call (back up for monthly Medical On Call). Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
