Providence is calling a Music - Thanatologist(Chaplaincy Services, Day Shift, 0.6 FTE) to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.
In this position you will:
Provide vigils to terminally ill, dying patients, and patients being removed from artificial life support systems.
Correlate prescriptive harp music and voice to respond to the individual patient's vital signs, to stimulate and/or suppress physiological conditions, and to address spiritual and mental states.
Requiredqualifications for this position include:
Certification as a Music Thanatologist
Significant experience in clinical practice
Demonstrated musical reliability, consistency, and proficiency in the delivery of prescriptive music, making sound musical decisions while playing for the dying person
Observance of the role of Music-Thanatologist
Appreciation for the rich tradition of Catholic institutional ministries
Demonstrated experience in working effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers
Familiarity with and observance of PSHMC's clinical policies and procedures
Competent in age-related care for pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients
Proficient in conducting educational presentations and in the use of computer technology
